Watercolor Society
NWS promotes the artistic use of water-based media* on paper surfaces. Founded in the White Bear Lake area in 1975, NWS has approximately 300 members, drawing people from the greater metropolitan area.
Member privileges are: Monthly membership meetings, September through May. which include any of the following: slide shows, discussion of supplies and their sources, painting critiques or demonstrations, panel Workshops featuring locally or nationally known watercolor artists who teach unique approaches to the media are offered.
Opportunities to exhibit paintings and win awards at annual show only for members.
Designated outdoor painting locales ("Paint-outs") designed to expand our talents with fellow members in the great outdoors. Schedule published in the May newsletter.
Monthly mailings of newsletter or postcard, September through May, with articles and announcements of club, area, and all member events.
Opportunities for involvement as executive director, committee chair or member, advisory board member, or volunteer.
*These include materials that are water soluble including paints and crayons with emphasis on water soluble pigments. collage, if used, must be in conjunction with, but not dominate the water media.
