BIOGRAPHY: Deb believes that painting from one's heart is the very essence of creating any form of art. She believes in the healing process of creating art. Techniques, formula's and all the "How to's" are just the basic processes to making art. Great art has to have some sort of feelings or mood that connects with the viewer on an emotional level. Her fascination and use of intense color, sometimes straight from the tube or jar, reflect those emotions and feelings directly onto her canvases and watercolor paper. Deb attended the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with Bachelor of Art degrees in Studio Art and Psychology. Becoming an Art Therapist and helping other people heal spiritually, emotionally, and psychologically through art was at the heart of Deb‘s early career goals, but marriage and family soon sidetracked her plans, and after 25 plus years working in other careers and painting as a hobby, Deb is presently living her dream of being a professional artist, art instructor and creativity coach. She is presently in the process of adding pieces to several of her "series work": Abstracts, Crosses of Hope, The Sisters Series, Dogs!, You Are Beautiful and Dance Ballet. Most recently she has been using black gesso as a base on her canvases and is working dark to light finding new ways to create transparency and brilliant color. Deb is current member, and secretarial board member with the International Society of Acrylic Painters. She is Vice President and the Spring Show Chair with the Minnesota Watercolor Society. In addition, she has memberships with The Red River Watercolor Society, Art Reach St Croix, Hopkins Center for the Arts, Northstar Watercolor Society, White Bear Center for the Arts, Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts, Edina Art Center and the Bloomington Art Center. Deb's work has been purchased by Famous Dave's Restaurant and many personal and private collectors. Deb enters competitions and exhibits andhas won many awards.
